Read my whole post. Vista was released before it was finished for

quick profit. Nothing new for gates. In fact this is his signature.

That may be true, but morally and ethically the consumer/end user

should be considered somewhere in the equation. And even business-

wise, it makes sense to satisfy the customer, especially down the

road.

Truth be known, Gates has a monopoly on OS. Apparently this is all

that counts. If there were competition, then Gates might release

robust software - sad commentary.

This may be true...

>> As a matter of all, all public corporations are required to maximize

>> profits for their stockholders.

but can be interpreted (like almost everything else) in several ways.

Selling a defective product (Chinese made toys with lead paint) does NOT

maximize profits and therefore is not only bad for business but could,

using the above statement, be judged to be illegal if done deliberately

or without due care.

Enron maximized profits, the sub-prime mortgage business maximized

profits, not doubt Halliburton, Blackwater and KBR are all about

maximizing profits, the question is does MS really want to be tarred

with the same brush as it were...

And here is a bit more information on returns of windows:

But you can return it anyway, and hopefully if enough people do it it

will send them a message. Quoted from the MS website:

http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/productrefund/refund.mspx

"Microsoft offers a 45 day refund on all there products.

Along with a up to 7.00 for return shipping. The number to call:

1-888-673-8624

This applies to retail items purchased in North America only. If it is

an OEM item, you need to return it for a refund from the OEM you

purchased it from."

Priceless quotes in m.p.w.vista.general group:

"Fair use is not merely a nice concept--it is a federal law based on

free speech rights under the First Amendment and is a cornerstone of the

creativity and innovation that is a hallmark of this country. Consumer

rights in the digital age are not frivolous."

Just thought I'd update the world on the condition of my WINDOWS VISTA

refund.

What refund? A complete no show. It's been over a month and nothing.

Parr for Bill Gates and MS. But you'd think they'd do something right,

just once. Knowing MS & that idiot Gates, I'd be more surprised if it

eventually shows up. I'll keep you posted, but don't hold your breath.

The MS Vista refund finally arrive. It took MS 5 weeks, but hey they

even included the tax. So apparently Gates knows Vista blows enough to

offer a refund and keep his word. In Gates defense, few software

companies allow refunds and many peddle even more worthless,

antiquated, user-unfriendly software than Vista.

"So apparently Gates knows..."

That policy is many years old so any assumptions about Windows Vista

based on this policy will probably be false.

Also hardware and software is included in the refund policy, not just

Windows.

Great! You're lucky it didn't take as long as most mail-in refunds

do...like 12+ weeks.

So apparently Gates knows Vista blows enough to

You're pretty stupid aren't you. These types of refunds have been

available from most all computer/software manufacturers for yrs.

In Gates defense, few software

There is nothing wrong with Vista. Usually it's either the hardware some

idiot tries to load it on or else they are so confused (re: computer

illiterate) and lost, they just give up.

I'd recommend you go to toys-r-us and pick up an etch-a-sketch. Of

course first check their return policy.

You just might need to take advantage of it.

12+ weeks?? Where you live? Turkey? I've had my fair share of refunds.

Most took a month, some even arrived in 3 weeks.

Complete B.S. dude. Most software is non-refundable, in fact this is

the first software that I was ever able to have a full refund. Where

you live?

LMFAO. Tell that to the hundreds of thousands on the class action

lawsuit list.

But you're kinda right, Vista is much worse than just "wrong." I'll

save you the laundry list of problems associated with Vista.

Sorry pal, but that just ain't true. 90+days is norm which is why

Congress and many States are trying to outlaw the mail-in rebate practice.

Oh, I live in So Cal and I'm waiting for 6 mail-ins, all over 45 days old.

Vista sucks. It's not an opinion. It's a fact. There's a laundry list

of problems. Tell me, did you enjoy Windows 3.0 back in the day too?

Everything that came before xp sucked .. and so far after. These are

facts. Anyone with OS experience knows this. Obviously you lack

Yeah and that's all it is.

It's a fact.

It's only your personal opinion, not a fact.

Let me see if I fully understand your way of reasoning. You can't get

one little install of Vista to run correctly so you open your big fukkin

mouth about suing MS and finally return Vista for a full refund. Of

course you blame MS for your own stupidity and computer incompetence, right?

Whereas I've got over 12 seats of Vista Ultimate running correctly in my

Sorry norm, but I've already had many distros of linux up and running

throughout the years.

I just don't care for it. It is not something that has anything that I

want or need.

It is not easier than Vista to install and anyone who has done both

knows that to be true.

The fact that you cannot run most of the major apps on it is the most

limiting factor of all.

Frank

on...I almost forgot. Ubuntu did not recognize my Matrox P750 video card

so I installed it on another box with an ATI card and used it for a few

days till I realized it was just the SOS, only painted up a little

differently.

Currently the only linux distro I have installed is PCLinuxOS, but

haven't booted into it for days. I'm afraid it's also domed to the trash.

I don't disagree that it is not for everyone due to the varied needs of

the user population, both business and private. However, unless one is

tied by business needs or other compelling reasons to use ms and other

commercial products, there is no reason that linux and the open source

offerings should not be thought of as very capable and cost effective

alternatives to many of the commercial products that exist.

Then there has to be a compelling reason why they aren't.

In your words, that's an opinion. Let other's with a little more

intelligence read your responses and posts and see who lost and is

lost..

That shrink ain't working for you either.

And I'm still waiting for a response from you on how you get software

refunds.

  • 4 months later...

Then vista sucks is a heavily opinionated opinion. Some people, including

myself, have It working just fine. I typed this completely with the Vista

speech recognition utility. Just FYI
