Update product key from 2003 Std to R2

Hi All

 

As I am just newly employed for this company and I found out that one

of server was clonned so there is no legal license for it, and it was

windows 2003 server std, and I've just purchased windows 2003 std R2.

All I want is that just update the product key. I managed to deactive

the window, but when I updated the new product key, it won't accept.

Is it because of mismatch version? what should I do?
