Posted January 22, 200916 yr Can anyone recommend reliable yet affordable tape backup software for Windows 2008? Don't need fancy features Backup Exec has. Something more down-to-earth like ntbackup.exe to transfer files on tape. Thanks )
January 22, 200916 yr FPCH Admin Alex, why not use the backup tools within Windows 2008? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770266.aspx for an overview of the rolls available. I use it to batckup my servers. I also use DeltaCopy to backup files and settings to my home server. Another Forum - Unlike the Rest
January 22, 200916 yr Author Windows tools will be used without of a doubt but since there is no support for tape devices in Windows 2008, I will have to scratch my head.
January 22, 200916 yr FPCH Admin I didn't realize there was no tape backup option. I backup to another hard drive and then use DeltaCopy to sync it with my offsite server. Another Forum - Unlike the Rest
November 25, 200915 yr It's a few months since you asked, but take a look at Bacula and see if it would work for you. There is a commercial version and support in addition to the free version. Bacula does support at least some tape drives, but most free/open source backup programs that I've seen do not. They also appear to only have the storage/director daemons for 32-bit Server 2008 and only the client for 64-bit 2008, though hopefully that will change.
August 25, 201113 yr Hey, our company needs a backup software for server. We can't afford Acronis or Paragon. Our budget on the software is less than $300. I found easeus todo backup server..anyone have any idea about the software?
