shaun5793 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I was just curious to know. Has Microsoft done anything with the Defrag aplication in windows 7? I really missed the graphical interface that was in XP when i upgraded to vista, and was wondering if microsoft has changed this in windows 7, or if they are planning to. In windows Vista, there was no way to find out how much of your hard drive was fragmented etc, and i really didnt like how it didnt have a GUI so you could SEE how much was fragmented etc like you can in XP. FPCH Admin AWS Posted May 20, 2009 FPCH Admin Posted May 20, 2009 It's still there. Right click your drive and select tools. You'll find disk defragger there. There is no need to run it since Windows automatically defrags for you. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
Cat-tranz Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) I have never been a fan of Windows defrag (found it a bit slow) i use O&O in XP but in Windows 7 i use Smart Defrag It works continuously in the background while your computer is idle and does not require further user intervention for basic maintenance. The program also includes a manual defrag option as well as support for scheduled defragmentations and with optional file system optimization i set it up (easy to do) and just let it get on with it, uses very little system resorces and its free :) Click on image to enlarge .
