N3 Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 I'm running windows 7 & read that i can get a second desktop. I want to be able to separate one from the other like an "A/B switch". Is this possible? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted August 21, 2018 FPCH Admin Posted August 21, 2018 You need a KVM switch. https://www.amazon.com/Ports-VGA-Switch-Selector-Monitor/dp/B003DTZQFY Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
plodr Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 I used two KVM switches for quite some time. One upstairs where I have an old Windows 2K computer and a Win 7 desktop. I had another setup in the basement for my husband. First he used Win 2k and XP. When I pulled 2K off the internet, he was running XP and Windows 7 on 2 different computers. Quote
N3 Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 I may have mistakenly worded my request in the wrong way. What i'm looking for is the capability of using one computer & one monitor. Possibly the following may be the answer but i'm unfamiliar with it. Unlock Virtual Desktops on Windows 7 or 8 With This Microsoft Tool Quote
plodr Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 KVM stands for Keyboard Video Mouse You hook the 2 desktop computers up to the KVM switch with the included cables and hook 1 keyboard, 1 mouse and 1 monitor to the switch. So you really don't want a 2nd desktop computer? What you want is a 2nd operating system on one computer? Quote
