What are the advantages/disadvantages of "Linux Mint" compared to windows 7 or 10?

Advantages:

For one, it's free.

For two, no forced updates

For three, you don't have to install it. It can be run from a DVD or USB drive.

It is much faster.

Has a smaller footprint.

Takes less resources to run.

1. Can I still use my printer & webcam?

2. I have an older computer with windows 7, 64 bit installed. Can I uninstall windows & use Linux Mint?

3. I use Paltalk & Skype. Will Linux mint accept those?

Use it live from a USB stick BEFORE you decide if you actually want to install it.

Installed Mint a few months ago on an old system..... and it's a dream to use.

If you select the updates... they take no time at all to download and install.

 

One thing that no one has mentioned.....

It's a lot more secure than Windows.

I haven't seen a need to install any type of AV etc.... all I enabled was the Firewall.

I just recently reinstalled Linux Mint on another hard drive so I can dual boot I really like it also very user friendly.

I was having some problems in windows but when I went to Mint I did not have those problems so it in a way

helped me diagnose the problem.In also like the live Linux disks or USB that you can boot to and rescue files

from windows if need be.

I went to the "Paltalk Help Lobby" & they stated that paltalk will not operate using Linux. This appears to be my only disappointment with Linux. Other than the above it appears to be an excellent operating system. Thanks to everybody for your input.

I also found an unused machine and installed Mint. So far, so good.
