I'm looking (for a friend) for a new computer. This is your typical home user who is replacing an XP machine. This Dell seems good to me. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't use an ATX power supply. It's using one of those slimline PSUs which I don't keep in stock. Anyone know if the ones Dell uses are proprietary? Also any other comments are appreciated.

Dell used proprietary PSUs for a long time, but I think I recall that changed awhile ago. This machine would be faster with an SSD for the OS. I have never been happy about shared memory with the GPU. My only other thought is that the mini design may limit choices for future upgrades.

Bill is correct, Dell no longer uses proprietary power supplies.

This model Inspiron is great for the typical home user.

It will do everything he needs it to and more.
