Posted May 17, 20177 yr Hello Pete or anyone else, I am having problems uninstalling the Symantec software from this win7 lenovo Thinkpad. I tried Revo Uninstaller which usually does the trick for hard to uninstall software but doesn't work, I tried a few articles off the net but nothing is working?
May 17, 20177 yr Hi Mike, Give this a go: ESET AV Remover It's a general AV removal tool. There's a list on the page giving all of the programs it will remove....Symantec Endpoint Protection is on the list. There are 2 versions... from the page you need to choose either the 32bit or 64bit version. Let us know if this works, if not we can look at removing it manually.
May 17, 20177 yr Author Thx Pete. 2 symantec items showed in the GUI [symantec Endpoint protection [Firewall] and Symantec Endpoint protection but showed "an error has occured". I notice that during each f the uninstall methods I have tried including this one with Eset there would be a prompt "Symantec Teefer install has stopped working.
May 17, 20177 yr FPCH Admin There is a Symantec Clean Wipe Tool for Endpoint but you have to open a support case in order to obtain the tool. https://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/how-get-cleanwipe-tool-endpoint-removal ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
May 17, 20177 yr Author I called up Symantec and asked for their clean wipe tool, that did it, thanks a million Cindy!

May 19, 20177 yr I notice that during each f the uninstall methods I have tried including this one with Eset there would be a prompt "Symantec Teefer install has stopped working. From what I read, the Teefer driver has to be removed separately. At least you got there in the end. For future reference, this link explains the manual removal process ( and addresses the Teefer driver) Manually uninstall Endpoint Protection
