Bill M. Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 (edited) One if my annoyances with Skype is that there is no spell checker to use when sending messages. I have found a small, Free spell checker specifically for Skype. I have been using it for 2 days without any difficulty. The one caveat is that it is based on American English. If you use the Queen's English spelling, it would probably be annoying. But from what I can see there is no down side and it does not interfere with Window Spell checker. It is available for Windows versions, NOT including Win 10. ursa-spelling.com/ Edited June 29, 2016 by Bill M. 3 Quote

DSTM Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I am between the Devil and the deep blue Sea when posting on Forums, getting the spelling right. Bill M. Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 The Ursa site seems to be down, don't know for how long. I'll post a new link when it's back.:( Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted June 29, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted June 29, 2016 The site is back up now. Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~

DSTM Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Time to look for a more reliable spell checker, maybe.:) Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
Bill M. Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 Program works very well. Web site not so much! Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted June 30, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted June 30, 2016 The spell checker itself works like a charm. I tried it out today while on Skype with my cousin who is in Ireland. DSTM Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I meant the Website, Bill. I installed the spell checker, works well. bassfisher6522 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I'm almost positive that my version of Skype has a spell checker built into it....as it comes up with red underlined showing the incorrect spelling. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 1, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted July 1, 2016 It certainly looks as if you do, Jim. Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
bassfisher6522 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 As far as I can remember....it always did have one.....even before MS bought it and turned into crap...lol! 1 Quote
DSTM Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Skype has not got it's own Spell Checker. Never did have. If your using Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, the OS's have spell checker built in which works with Skype. Windows7 OS has no inbuilt Spell Checker, so you need a third party Spell Checker like "Ursa" or "TinySpell" Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
Bill M. Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Solves that puzzle. I don't remember adding a spell checker for Win 7. But I have one, maybe it's in my email client. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 1, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted July 1, 2016 Win 7 itself may not have it's own spell checker but Internet Explorer 11 does. So, if you use IE 11, you'll have a spell checker. Bill M. Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 I don't use any version of IE. My primary is Chrome and FF secondarily. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 1, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted July 1, 2016 Microsoft Office also has a built-in spell checker, if you have any version of that installed, including MS Word. DSTM Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Yes and some write their reply posts in word first so have spell checker. Bill M. Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 No, sorry, I use kingosoft, maybe it's in there. And I don't write in it. Got to be Chrome. Quote
DSTM Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I tried "URSA" and now trying "TinySpell". If they annoy me too much, I will bin them. I am still on Windows7 SP1 X64. (Don't throw stones) I use Firefox as my default Browser. I find IE11 awkward for some reason, although it is very fast.
