Bill M. Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 What brand and model cam do we like for Skype and such? I can use my smart phone but not for extended conversations. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 11, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 11, 2016 I like Logitech, Bill. This is very similar to the webcam that I had. Logitech Webcam It has a built in microphone but I never used that. It's also worth noting, it only gives you 720p instead of the more expensive ones that offer 1080p. Truthfully, I didn't notice much difference at all with the lesser high definition. It does what it is supposed to do and works very well with Skype and the price can't be beat.. Bill M. Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 Thanks Cindy, that model gets sort of mixed reviews. But stepping up in Logitech doubles the price. Maybe someone has a second opinion. Cindy you said "had" what are you using now? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 11, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 11, 2016 I haven't been using any at the moment. I gave this one to my son. DSTM Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Frank has the best webcam I have seen. I will ask him what cam he uses, or if he reads this I am sure he will tell you, Bill. 1 Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
Bill M. Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 Thanks Dougie, no rush really, been a long time without one, I can wait a bit! Quote

Bill M. Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 Thanks Frank, looks impressive. I am going to try one more thing before I invest. I'm told my HTC 1 phone has a great camera, I just don't like holding it, I have an idea for a stand. But I really like the Hp HD cam. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 11, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 11, 2016 Have you ever seen the DIY binder clip stand for a cell phone, Bill? It works with the phone sideways or upright. 2 Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
Bill M. Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) Thanks Cindy, I have not seen that before, but a good idea. Edit: I found a solution sitting on my desk. I have a small wooded cigar box I use to hold pens. I can place the phone in the box vertically and raise the top to the proper angle to support the phone, seems to work very well. Even allows me to adjust the angle up or down. Just saved $60.00 Edited May 12, 2016 by Bill M. Quote
Bill M. Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 Just for closure, I bought one of these from Amazon, paid about $45.00 http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-hd-4310-webcam-p-h2w19aa-abc--1 Quote

bassfisher6522 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I'm still using my old Logitech QuickCam Communicate webcam. It says it only supports/works with XP/Vista/7......but I've used it with 8/8.1 and currently using it with 10. It works just find no issues at all. But I do need to get a new one with HD quality. http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/quickcam-communicate-mp Quote
Bill M. Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 Cindy, it is exactly like Frank's. Bassfisher, the one I linked to above is wide screen, 1080p HD. Quote

Bill M. Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 I looked at that one, but sort of got mixed reviews. I had a strong referral and personal recommendation for the one I bought. Quote
DSTM Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I have the Logitech C920 HD PRO and although more expensive here, is not as good as Frank and Bill's web cam.
