BGBG Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 With Brother Printer HL-L2340DW when printing a PDF is there any way to print with numbers on the pages? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 10, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 10, 2016 Hi BGBG, You should be able to by going to Document > Add Headers and Footers. BGBG Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 Either this belonged in Software or I put it there by mistake instead of hardware as I intended. So I just now located it. Anyway, I will see if I can find this ....must be a way to number pages. Dont usually print a booklet -type of thing... only single pages. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 11, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 11, 2016 I'm sorry, BG. I thought I left a redirect when I moved it. My bad. BGBG Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 That's OK...forgiven. But right now I am having trouble finding anything called Documents>Add Headers and Footers in the Printer settings. Somewhere else I should look? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 12, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 12, 2016 I'm sorry, BG. it was pointed out to me that, it may only be in Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader. Maybe someone else has some ideas. Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
Bill M. Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 You may want to look at Foxit Reader. I don't know for certain but it's worth exploring as an alternative to Adobe. Quote
FPCH Staff Tony D Posted May 12, 2016 FPCH Staff Posted May 12, 2016 Doesn't look like Foxit Reader has the capability to add headers or footers. However, Foxit Phantom PDF does have that feature. It's not free. But, you can download the Foxit pdf free reader which has an option to install a 30-day trial of their Phantom PDF software. So you can check it out for 30 days. https://www.foxitsoftware.com/products/pdf-reader/ 1 Quote
BGBG Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 So I guess it is the PDF that the capability is found, not the PC or Printer settings. My reader is Adobe. Not a really big deal for I rarely print a lot of pages to put together but did think it would be nice if it were there. The file does say adobe acrobat so will try again to see if I can find page number printing. Quote
Bill M. Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Actually BGBG you have that backwards. The capability is in the reader. Foxit Reader and the version Tony mentioned -Phantom- are well recognized alternatives to Adobe. Foxit reader is smaller in size, and many think it is superior to Adobe. Go back to Tony's post #8. BGBG Posted May 28, 2016 Author Posted May 28, 2016 Uh Oh...Found the problem. It Does print page numbers but in my haste I guess I failed to see them..I expect to see page numbers in center of top or bottom of page. I looked again and on first print I found page number bottom right of left page and bottom left of right page right under the last line of text. On second document there was a last line of text wit the number right after it like: IP4668_4007X_QG_Eng_GB_15130716.indd 1-2 where 1-2 is the page page number. And I see there are tiny numbers at the bottom right of the text for each page. This document prints the first page on whole L side of page and the second page on the whole R side of page. Now I dont print all that many multi-page documents and I may have been in a hurry but you have to admit that is somewhat obscure way to number pages. Just confusing at first I guess. But this was in fact my own error; the printer DOES print the page numbers. When I am wrong I have to say so. Unfairly accused it I am afraid. By the way, why does my forum page when opened up show the January 2004 posts at top instead of the May 2016 posts? Probably missed this to but how do I set newest posts at top??? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 28, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 28, 2016 That is a really weird way to number pages, BGBG. By the way, why does my forum page when opened up show the January 2004 posts at top instead of the May 2016 posts? I am not sure what you are seeing. I will see if I am able to check your settings for you. BGBG Posted May 29, 2016 Author Posted May 29, 2016 I like to set it so I see the most recent posts at top of list and first page with current date. I opened it up today and there were 92 pages and the first page began with 2004 I think. Must be a preference setting somewhere. There was some forum where you could show oldest message first, or newest message first. So far I havent found this here. I could just not be familiar enough with it though. Now I am unsure. Seems to show newest now. Maybe it is OK after all. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 29, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 29, 2016 All seems well with your settings, BG. Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
BGBG Posted May 29, 2016 Author Posted May 29, 2016 Thanks, Cindy. Sometimes I do not think I am "with it'' like I need to be. Stressed out. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted May 29, 2016 FPCH Admin Posted May 29, 2016 I think you do just fine, BG. Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
BGBG Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 Thanks. I am trying. Have so much to do and so little time to spread it out it gets too thin. Actually I am fairly new to this forum and havent explored it sufficiently. But I appreciate all the help I can get. Quote
