Posted May 9, 20168 yr A tech told me yesterday that the free win10 upgrade is "free for life" and only until June 2016,. I told him my sources show that the free upgrade is only valid for one year from date of install at which time users would need to either purchase it or revert back to their older OS, who is correct please?
May 9, 20168 yr FPCH Admin The Windows 10 upgrade is free for the life of that device. The free upgrade offer will end on July 29th 2016. So those who wish to take advantage of the free Windows 10 offer have to do it within the next couple of months. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
May 9, 20168 yr Author Oh so if your machine should you won't be able to use it on another, is this right? If yes what about if you need to change HDD? Would you be allowed to reinstall?
May 9, 20168 yr FPCH Admin If hardware goes on the upgrade machine, you wouldn't be able to use it on another. The upgrade says "for the life of the device". You cannot reinstall after July 29, 2016. I would think if the hard drive is faulty, you always have the option to use a cloned drive or an imaged backup. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
May 9, 20168 yr FPCH Staff There will be a key. They don't send it to you. It gets installed automatically. You can use a key finder such as Magical Jelly Bean to find the key. https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/
May 10, 20168 yr Author Got it, thanks. Last question, what was that "free upgrade expires at the end of one year at which time you would need to purchase" deal?
