Anyone tried downloading W10 lately? I'm trying to upgrade a W8.1 machine to W10. It's getting stuck at Starting download.... I've tried a couple of things, but every time it comes back to this.

Well, I went to https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10. It just brought me to the same place as the W10 installer where I get Starting download... and stays forever. I've restarted the machine a number of times yesterday and today. No joy.

I have a W10 install disk, but it's in Czech so I didn't continue with it. I should find the appropriate W10 install disk in English. Maybe that would help.

I loaded this machine with a new hard drive the other day. Installed W8. Did the 165 or so updates so I could install W8.1. Now trying for W10.

I had a problem last week upgrading a Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10. I couldn't get it to download using upgrade from Windows update. I had to download the media creation tool and use it to download and upgrade the box.

While I searching out the problem I had it seems that downloading through Windows update sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Might want to try media creation tool.

AWS and AllHeart- both your links bring me to the same place. It just brings up the Get Windows 10 window. I click Upgrade now and it sticks at Downloading.

I see the Media Creation Tool is a different site. Trying that now. Says Downloading Windows 10. Yeah - and the progress indicator is moving. Thank you Exts. Hope to see it finish. First time I've run into this problem.

AWS - I found you had to upgrade to 8.1. When it was a W8 machine, it wouldn't allow the upgrade to W10. Then to go from 8 to 8.1, I had to install the 165 or so updates before it would allow the move to W10. This upgrade process has been a pain.

The upgrade has to be from Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1.

A lot of people feel that the difference between 8 and 8.1 is really just a service pack.

I don't know why MS chose to call it 8.1 instead of 8 SP1.
