My cat "Lucie" does some unusual things for a cat. When having my bath my cat sits at the door and meows till I let her in the Bath room.Jumps straight in the water and wants to be washed. One of us washes her, rinses her off with the shower spray, then it's on her own towel on the floor and meows till we dry her with the hair dryer. No other cat I have ever had would go near water. Puddles of water in the garden after a storm will walk through the puddle instead of around it.Wants to be washed daily if we let it happen. Edited by DSTM

I love it. All of the cats that we have had over the years, none of them have liked to be bathed.

We used to have to be very careful when we flea dipped them in the summer or we'd end up with scratches everywhere.

It's still hard to believe some cats can tolerate water. Didn't know about Turkish Van Breed.

From wikipedia

The native Van cat landrace of Turkey have been nicknamed the "swimming cats", due to an unusual fascination with water.[4]Despite the modern Turkish Van breed consisting almost entirely of pedigreed, indoor-only cats with no access to large bodies of water, and despite dubious connections between them and the cats of the Lake Van area, some feel that the Turkish Van has a notable affinity for water; for example, instead of swimming in a lake, they may stir their water bowls or play with water in the toilet,[8][unreliable source?] and some may even follow their owners into water.[2] However, the idea that the breed likes water more than other cats may be mistaken according to some pet writers.[9]

That last sentence kinda contradicts the rest of the paragraph.

Well I can attest that Toby loves water, and although the legacy of the Turkish Van breed which is considerable, there are of course those among the breed which are "different" like any other cat can also be different and maybe like water. Everytime I shower the bathroom door is open and he gets into the tub as he has been doing for 16 years now. He can also swim like a pro he did it in Texas though not here where I am now thought usually it's too cold. Here is a video of the Turskish Van in water. Toby is the same. Very different from any other cat in that regard.

Our family cat loves to watch TV....especially when it has dogs or big cats on. Damnedest thing I've ever seen....not just 15 or 30 seconds....I'm talking 5 to 10 minutes. Her head following the action...it's just to funny. I'll see if I can find the video my daughter took of her (the cat) yesterday.
