Posted March 12, 20168 yr Hello I have read all I can about file>quick access>commands>send email but none of the Googling has help. I cannot send a 2010 word doc as an an email attachment. I have win 10 x 64 and a MS account, Gmail account and a Comcast account. I have made windows 10 Mail the default. What am I missing? TY
March 12, 20168 yr FPCH Admin Is the Word doc located in a file or folder in My Documents? You need a email client that is not web based such as Thunderbird. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
March 12, 20168 yr Author In Win 10, 'Mail' is considered web based? I did not know that - it is the only mail that appears on my default list yet when i try to send a simple Word document as an attachment it won't work. I tried all the Google fixes. ! !!! I always thought it was the lack of the mail desktop client and am glad you confirmed that. I used to use WLM but Essentials is fading away. Thunderbird is too. I tried a newly advertised one and cannot recall the name but it was awful and found it was a trial when I got into it.. I don't know about Zimbra and the others I find Googling. I have 3 already so don't really need another but so many times I wanted to send my Word doc as an attachment via mail. Do you have a suggestion for a free, not trial, desktop mail program that does not need its own bars and is no frills? I really looked around and at this point would appreciate a reference. TY Peter
March 12, 20168 yr FPCH Admin I still use Thunderbird and I like it. It has a small footprint and does everything that I need it to do. I have heard good things about eM client but I have never used it myself. It does have a 30 day free trial and at the end of 30 days, you can either upgrade to the Pro or use the free license. http://www.emclient.com/download I'm sure some of our other tech's will have better suggestions for you. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~

March 12, 20168 yr Author This eM Client is working for the Word doc as an attachment and I like it so far. I don't need fancy so if this continues I would recommend it. Peter
March 12, 20168 yr FPCH Admin Good, thanks for letting us know. I don't usually like to recommend something if I haven't tried it out but I have heard good things from other tech's about the eM client. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
