Running Vista, I did an OS recovery on this machine but 2 problems, first it showed that the "wireless switch is not turned on" but according to my research there isn't a physical switch but rather this pertains to the wireless software but looking in the DM as the attached pic shows the wireless software is there? I tried installing both the Broadcom and Intel Pro wireless drivers from their site here below but that doesn't help:

Other issue is as 2nd attached screenshot shows I can't get windows update to run, help please?

The windows update started working now it's only the wireless issue, I am thinking the internal wireless car may be shot?

Sorry, Mike. I lost my internet connection today.

It was down for several hours.

There are quite a few different models for the HP DV3500.

Check here with the correct model for your driver.

I don't expect you to be every time cindy, always glad to hear from you. On the sticker beneath it doesn't show any other digit except for dv3500 so I chose the first option which was "Pavilion dv3500ea Entertianment" and belarc shows what the attached image shows

The owner will be using this laptop only for music and does not wish to connect to the net to prevent any virus issues so whenever he should need the net he will simply use the wired connection or he can always purchase an adapter so I will leave as-is for that reason, thanks.
