peterr Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I was at the Dell site and it said neither one on my pcs, desktop or laptop was to update to Windows 10 and that Dell did not support them. I have an XPS 8300 and an Inspiron N5010 both are about 4 1/2 years with the older BIOS. Both are 64 bit with 6 GB ran and 1`T and 600 GB hard drives. I find that they both are functioning well with no incompatibility issues after a months use. Why would Dell tell me not to upgrade and install Win 10? Are they just saying they won't support any compatibility issues? This sound s like a good reason for them to sell new pcs with Win 10, or am i wrong? Thanx Peter Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted October 9, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted October 9, 2015 I think that's exactly what they are trying to do, sell computers with Windows 10. You have already upgraded to Windows 10 with no problems, yes? starbuck Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I suppose Dell are playing on peoples ignorance about Win10. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted October 9, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted October 9, 2015 I don't doubt it at all, Pete. Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
peterr Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 Yes Windows 10 works flawlessly so their statement about not updating should be challenged. i doubt they would care . i wish this could be made public. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted October 10, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted October 10, 2015 I have an old XPS 8300 also and Windows 10 did install without problems. Dell has a history of not supporting a new OS on older computers. It's all sales driven for them. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
peterr Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 I agree - I wish we could embarrass them with this obvious sales pitch but they are hard to embarrass as they have little integrity.. I am new to the forum but it is a very cool one. 3 Quote
