Can someone recommend a sturdy keyboard with big, durable letters?

I Google'd and Amazon'ed but am confused as ever.

Current keyboard has a problem connecting from cable to keyboard. I

don't know how longer my "fix" (shoving cord into keyboard) will prevail.

Thanks!

Either of these two should be suitable for you, Lina.

They both have large lettered keys.

The second one is also backlit.

DC Large Print Keyboard, Black KeyBoard - $27.92

Azio Large Print Tri-Color Backlit Wired Keyboard - $24.99

I forgot to add, a couple of my customers have the Azio backlit keyboard and they both love it.

Thanks, Cindy. I'm still unsure. EZ by DC has had fewer sales so far,

therefore fewer negative reviews. The AZIO seems to have more one-

star ratings percentage wise but lots more sales.

Will think about it. Thanks for the research!

  • FPCH Admin

I did read the reviews but I am going by what my two customers have told me.

Neither one of them have complained about any keys sticking and both of them

enjoy the very large letters.

I have to confess, I like the backlit keyboard so much that I have actually considered

buying one of them. I also love the larger letters.

While I was searching for a nice mouse to include with the above keyboard Cindy recommended,

Amazon raised the Azio keyboard price to $33.03

True, or did I somehow come up with the wrong keyboard?

If true, shame on Amazon for the great Labor Day bargain

Cindy, it looks like that price is reserved for Prime users.

I don't order enough to make getting Prime cost-effective.

  • FPCH Admin

I understood it to mean that it is eligible for Prime.

I don't think that means a special price but maybe I'm wrong?

Edit to add, yup, I'm wrong.

I'm going to email my son (in CA) who has Prime and

ask him to order it for me. (Of course, I'll make sure

to reimburse him.)

  • FPCH Admin

I can order it and have it sent to your house, Lina. (If you'd like.)

I have Amazon Prime.

I already emailed my son; let's see what he says.

Bless you for offering, Cindy :bunny:

  • FPCH Admin

Okay, sounds good.

Let me know what you want to do.

It's not a problem for me to order it and have it send directly to you.

Cindy, my son just sent me a confirming email.

Keyboard guaranteed to arrive in 2 days.

Awesome! Let me know how you like it.

I still may order one for myself.

I've always liked the idea of the backlit keys.

The larger letters are great too.

I don't do well looking for a particular key. Putting my fingers

on the keyboard to find it used to be much faster than hunt-

and-peck. But my typing and memory skills are aging along

with my knees and back. I'm sure I'll be delighted with the

back-lit and large-letter keys!

Just got it. Fantastic!

I played j-jitsu in vain, trying to get the keyboard cord to the back

of my computer table (impossible to move away from the wall)

and then to the separate USB on the table (have mouse plugged

in there also). So the cord is just hanging, plugged directly into

the USB, looking for mischief. I'll have to wait for my neighbor

(he's a pilot and away at lot) to help me install it.

With the USB plugged directly into a separate electric socket,

will the lights wear out before the keyboard? I wonder if we'll

have to install the keyboard cord into the computer tower?

Of the 5 back-lit keyboard colors, I think I like the blue one best.

Will take a while to find "home base" on the keyboard and stay

there. I went from many manual to carriage-shifting electric to

Selectric typewriters over the years; I'm sure I'll tame this one.

  • FPCH Admin

I'm really glad that you like it, Lina.

There is a key that turns the back light off and on.

I don't remember which key it is but the manual should be able to tell you.

The keyboard would probably be best plugged in to the tower.

I like it too. I've been thinking about getting one myself.

A couple of my customers have the same one and they both love it.

Might actually look for one of these myself, my keyboard problems are the letters wearing off, several are just a white dot of all that is left of the original letter. :help: For some reason A is just a dot, N is also, E has worn off altogether so has H with many others just a part of the original letter. Good job I can remember where they all are.:glasses:

I thought I was the only one with that problem.

On a side note. I have always been a hunt and peck type person. I started to take an online typing class about 2 months ago and I can proudly say I can type by touch now and my speed is increasing all the time. I shouldn't have slept through typing class in school. I didn't know what I was missing by not learning how to touch type back them.

  • FPCH Admin

One summer, my mother made my sisters and I take a typing and shorthand class that she taught.

The typing has come in handy, the shorthand, not so much.

Way way back in the dark and dreary mists of time in the early 1960's when still at school, a very small part of I think general science, or it might have been English lessons, the class I was in were given a very basic introduction to the typewriter, what it is, what it does, and a brief explanation as to why the letters are not in alphabetical order. That was it, no one was expected to learn how to use one, it was just a very basic lesson and that was that.

Most of the lads weren't interested as typing was for the girls, we were going to be road sweepers or other general labour with maybe the odd one, (Such as myself) gaining better qualifications and becoming something a bit better. It was that sort of sink estate school.

No one had the slightest idea that computers would soon be ruling the human race and that keyboard skills would become the norm.

The wheel which controls the density and color of the lights

also can be spun to shut off the keyboard lights. Did not

find that out until I read the manual, which, BTW, has a

great chart listing some very useful hotkeys and buttons.

If you are a high-speed typist, getting used to the keyboard

may affect speed and accuracy for a good while. But with

the keys lit up, you will find it easy to get your fingers on

"home base" again.

If in doubt I'd check any negative reviews before buying it.

So far, for me, positives outweigh any temporary negatives

(but then again, I've had to get used to many different

keyboards over the years).
