Plastic Nev Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 No doubt that Windows 10 is fully configured to run on systems with the newer UEFI systems, however has anyone found any problems running the trial Windows 10 on older BIOS systems? Just curious is all. Nev. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 23, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted July 23, 2015 I have actually been running Windows 10 on a dual boot older computer which is also running Windows 8.1 without any problems, Nev. I built this computer back in 2008 at KH with Rich. It has a regular BIOS and is running an Intel Quad core processor. I hadn't been using this computer that much until I installed Windows 8 on it. I decided to try 10 as a dual boot when they first released the 10 Technical Preview. It's been running great although I did recently have to replace the hard drive. starbuck Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 has anyone found any problems running the trial Windows 10 on older BIOS systems? Not sure what you consider old, Nev.... but I'm running a triple boot with Win7, Win8.1 and Win10 without any problems at all on this: Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted July 23, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted July 23, 2015 I have it running on a Dell Mini 9. I don't use it much since I bought a Surface Pro, but, I decided to test out Windows 8 on it and it worked and a couple weeks ago I did the upgrade to Windows 10. Works surprisingly well too. Plastic Nev Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Good to know it is OK as although my desktop runs Windows 7 perfectly well it is on an ordinary BIOS, whereas my laptop has the UEFI system, so both should be OK as I intend installing W10 on the laptop first just to see what I think of it. If I do like it and can work with it, then the desktop will get it installed. Though I feel it will have to be good to be better than W7. Nev. Quote
