Jeff Williams, Apple's Senior Vice President of Operations, said at Re/code's Code Conference that native apps for the Apple Watch will arrive in the fall.

Speaking at the Code Conference, Apple's SVP of Operations Jeff Williams revealed that developers would get a preview of an SDK for building native Apple Watch apps. Unlike current watch apps, these apps will not solely rely on the iPhone to run, and will have access to some of the Apple Watch's sensors. Williams said that developers will get a preview of this at WWDC 2015, with a release coming this fall.

From Re/code:

He also confirmed that Apple will release a preview next week of a developer kit that will allow companies to write apps directly for the watch versus customizing their iPhone app to work on the watch as well.

One of the champions of the Apple Watch project, Williams also said that the device is doing well, even better than he expected. He noted that Apple would sell more if they could make more, though he wouldn't go into exact numbers.

Williams was also asked about the possibility of an Apple Car, to which we would only say:

"The car is the ultimate mobile device," Williams said, quickly adding. "We're exploring a lot of different markets."

Apple is rumored to be working on an electric car, which could hit the roads as early as 2020.
