FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted April 30, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted April 30, 2015 Microsoft has been demonstrating all its new changes in Windows 10 during the Build developers conference this morning, and now the company is ready to provide a new update for testers. Windows 10 build 10074, which leaked out recently, is now ready to roll out officially. It’s the first preview that really demonstrates Microsoft’s various UI changes in Windows 10, and it brings back some of the Aero Glass features that were present in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Not everyone will get Aero Glass "We’ve also heard loud and clear that many Windows Insiders want to see Aero Glass from Windows 7 make a comeback," says Microsoft’s Gabe Aul. "We’ve been working out how to satisfy this request, and are trying some things out with this build to see how you like them." Microsoft is planning to enable normal transparency on 50 percent of Windows 10 testers and a blur effect like frosted glass on the other 50 percent. "If Windows Insiders really like the blur effect, we will add it to more areas and even consider making it the default instead of standard transparency." Elsewhere, there’s also a new Live Tile animation that makes Tiles more 3D-like. The animation leaked the other day, and it’s subtle change to the existing flip animation in Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Microsoft is also making improvements to Continuum and its tablet mode. The taskbar once tablet mode is enabled is far more simplified, and the Start Screen is more similar to Windows 8. Microsfot appears to be listening to feedback around the touch parts of Windows 10 being scaled back too heavily, and it’s adjusting the operating system accordingly. This latest preview also includes new default Windows sounds. Some of these sounds leaked recently, with ambient modern tones that evoke memories of a Windows 95 startup sound. Microsoft is looking for feedback around these sounds. Cortana, Microsoft’s digital assistant, has also been refreshed this time around with a hamburger menu and more close integration with the Start Menu. Cortana will also get a new Bing Instant Answers feature, which allows you to ask things like "how tall is Brad Pitt" or "time in London." These features currently exist in Cortana on Windows Phone. If you’re already running Windows 10 then the new preview is available immediately from Windows Update, or there are ISO files for those who want to run the OS in a virtual machine or as a clean install.
