Posted April 21, 20159 yr Twitter is making a big change in its direct messaging feature, allowing users the option to receive direct messages from any other Twitter user. Previously, Twitter only allowed for direct messages to be sent to people who followed each other on the service. Now users can make a change in their settings to allow anyone to message them. This option is opt-in only, so you don't have to do anything if you want to keep things the way they are. Here's the full list of changes that are being made for the direct messenger feature on Twitter: A setting that allows you to receive Direct Messages from anyone, even if you don't follow them. Updated messaging rules so you can reply to anyone who sends you a Direct Message, regardless of whether or not that person follows you. A new Direct Message button on profile pages on Android and iPhone. You'll see it on the profiles of people you can send Direct Messages to.
