Hey guys, I am simply trying to help out a guy who called me up seeking help for his parents. They are down there in age and he wants to get some sort of device which can read back books to them and also from which they can listen to music. Since vision will be important we are thinking maybe the largest tablet would work fine? I am thinking he can get ebooks which can be played back but what about the ebook reading aloud situation, what's the best thing for them please?

My Mom had the Kindle DX which is 9 1/2 inches, so it is a larger size.

I have an Aluratek E-Reader, which is 7 inches and it works very well but I don't use the audio that much.

When I do use the sound, it's crystal clear.

He will want a 13" or close to it for viewing purposes so I guess what he will be needing next is a reliable software which will read back ebooks to him?

Yes, on everything except the first generation of Kindle Fire.

I just called Amazon, they said the Kindle Fire HDX will do everything this guy needs, will read back audio books and he can copy music from his pc unto the fire for playback, this unit also has a "may day" button which his parents can press for a live agent who will come in the screen to walk them through any functions, cool huh?

It seems very cool! :D It sounds similar to what my Mom had except she didn't have the live agent option.

Yeah, on behalf of this guy, thanks again for the help Cindy, I am not charging him for anything, just glad he's willing to help his parents.

You're welcome, Mike!

My Mom loved her Kindle DX.
