mikehende Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Sorry not understanding cindy, can you send me a screenshot please? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted March 29, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted March 29, 2015 Sorry, Mike. I did have a screenshot. Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted March 29, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted March 29, 2015 Did you install the chipset for this notebook, Mike? Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
mikehende Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 Yes Cindy, as normal procedure I always install the chipset driver first and restart. The driver identifier process led me to install the "Intel Centrino wireless-N 6150 driver, I tried a few from that page but it doesn't install. I am wondering if the wireless card in this laptop may be shot since the HDD was damaged too? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted March 29, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted March 29, 2015 It doesn't look as if you have the correct chipset installed, Mike. Try this one....https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility- Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
mikehende Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 I had installed the only chipset showing on the Asus page, I am not understanding why that would be the wrong one? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted March 29, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted March 29, 2015 Sorry, Mike. Brain fart. I meant the wrong wireless driver. My bad. Have you tried this one? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/23723/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-7-?httpDown=http%3A%2F%2Fdownloadmirror.intel.com%2F23723%2Feng%2FWireless_16.11.0_s64.exe Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~

mikehende Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Oh, just one more issue, the media buttons on the keyboard are not working after the win7 reinstall, any ideas please? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted March 30, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted March 30, 2015 It looks as if you need the ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities, Mike. You'll find it under the Utilities tab. http://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/342/0/1/NfIUlTRsPzAfvAA1/30/ Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
