New Apple Wireless Keyboard with backlight controls pops up in Online Store

A new version of Apple's wireless keyboard seems to have popped up on a number of the company's online stores around the world.

The new keyboard, like those found on Apple's MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops, now seems to have backlight controls on the F5 and F6 keys, indicating that the standalone keyboard could be backlit, though there are no other signs that this is the case. Previously, those keys were blank, with no pre-assigned function. The keyboard also appears to have a power button taking place of the eject key, which now has little purpose on most Apple devices.

Images of the keyboard have been spotted on Apple's Online Store for the Czech Republic, as well as their store in Hungary. An Arabic variant of the keyboard has even appeared on the U.S. store. No new descriptions accompany the images describing any new functions, so any other changes to the keyboard are unknown at this time.

This new keyboard does not seem to take after the one found on Apple's new MacBook. That keyboard features bigger keys with a new font, as well as the new butterfly switch mechanism, which replaces the scissor switches found in Apple's Air and Pro models, as well as the Wireless Keyboard.

As of right now the Apple Wireless Keyboard remains available for its standard price of $69.99.
