Foursquare's check-in app, Swarm, has just received an update that introduces a new feature, messages, and moves a few things around as well.

The popular check-in application that allows users to share their location with other users of the application now allows for users to send messages to nearby friends. In addition to adding messages, a few other changes have been made as well.

Check out the list below for the full set of changes:

  • Introducing messages! In this release, we've added the ability to message your nearby friends (even if they don't have Swarm) to quickly and easily meet up.
  • We also moved some things around. The check-in button is now closer to your thumb, at the bottom center of the screen. Try it out!
  • Finally, when viewing a friend's check-in, you can quickly see more details about the place, including which of your friends has been there.

Swarm 2.0 is now available in the App Store so be sure to check it out now.
