N3 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 As an experiment i uninstalled Paltalk using the "Wise Program Uninstaller". I then went to "Revo Uninstaller Pro" & under "Forced Uninstall" i typed "Paltalk". After a while Revo displayed many remnants of paltalk that i thought the wise program should have removed? Any comments concerning the above? Quote
donetao Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Hi I like to use this freeware after uninstalling a program with REVO. It's called Searcheverything! It will find all the left behinds! http://www.voidtools.com/downloads/ Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
donetao Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 There are 70+ registry entries for Paltalk. Revo won't find all of them!! There will be a few left behind!! That's reality!! Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
lurkingatu2 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 since Revo uninstaller free will not see 64bit software but Revo Pro will i use Geekuninstaller it is free and portable and seems to do ok i have not tryed Wise uninstaller but i think it is freeware and Revo pro is payware so that would be a big defference one would think :) James Quote

As long as I have SearchEverything, regedit (F3)and Regseeker; I'm not buying REVO!! When I uninstall a program, any thing left after I use those three can stay on my PC. Thanks for clearing that up! FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted February 22, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted February 22, 2015 You have to be careful, N3 because some of those entries could be shared registry keys that go with other programs. 1 Quote ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
DSTM Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I use Wise uninstaller then search with "Everything" Wise uninstaller will show every program and also every P.U.P secretly installed. Other uninstall programs will not show everything in 64 BIT. I like the "force uninstall" option. Also all your Windows updates without having to go navigating for them. 1 Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
donetao Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Hi Cindy ! Are we talking about shared Dll files? I just down loaded Wise Uninstaller!! Edited February 22, 2015 by donetao Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(

Whatever "Wise Uninstaller" leaves behind there is a reason for it. When searching for remnants with "Everything" use extreme caution in what your deleting. Further registry entries are normally left in the registry to ensure smooth operation of your computer.:) Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
donetao Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Hi Dougie! This is what Wise Uninstaller left behind when I uninstalled REVO That is quite a bit and I would delete all of it! I really like that Wise uninstaller however!! It left 17 entries in the registry. I don't want to start a argument about that, but I will remove those also. Of course I have Macrium to back up all my mistakes.;):( Me worry? Nope!! Edited February 22, 2015 by donetao Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
donetao Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I forgot to mention. I will back up the registry before deleting any registry entries with ERUNT!!:jumpimg: 1 Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
lurkingatu2 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 it's been a long time since i used ERUNT and NTREGOPT i used to use them with Win Xp i do not think thay would work with Win 8.1 though and i would take care using it with Win 7 after reading this homepage http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ ERUNT and NTREGOPT Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/faq.htm Question: do ERUNT and NTREGOPT run on Windows 7? Answer: ERUNT and NTREGOPT in their current versions 1.1j are still compatible with Windows 7, but as in Vista, they will only work correctly if you turn off User Account Control in Windows' Control Panel (move the slider to the lowest position). Also, a problem has been discovered which on many systems causes ERDNT and NTREGOPT to display a "RegSaveKey: 3" error when optimizing / restoring the BCD00000000 hive. The cause is that after a clean install of Windows 7, the BCD part of the registry which contains Windows' boot configuration data resides on a hidden system partition with no drive letter assigned in Explorer. You can simply ignore this error and continue, or as a workaround, open Disk Managemant in Control Panel and right-click on the partition displayed as "System Reserved" to assign a drive letter. Future versions of ERUNT and NTREGOPT will of course have these issues fixed. Keep an eye on my homepage for updates. :) James Quote
DSTM Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I use ERUNT with Windows7 SP1 with no issues. Have restored the registry a number of times. Haven't used with Windows 8.1 so can't comment. 1 Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
donetao Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Hi I use ERUNTgui. I haven't had any problems with it. Thanks for the heads up. Don't worry much when I have Macrium to bail me out!! I have seen that error. I just ignore it and continue! It has some thing to do with the hidden partition. No big deal! You can not assign it a drive letter, so just ignore it!! http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/eruntgui.html Edited February 22, 2015 by donetao Quote Some times you're the wind shield. I love Free PC Help Forum Every time I install any software I make a restore point, custom install the program, then straight away check "Wise Uninstaller" for hidden P.U.P's installed. Amazing how many you find that don't show up under "programs".:) 1 Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
donetao Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Hi! Dougie! Wise Uninstaller didn't find any PUP's on my PC, but that's good to know and I'll be watching for them. Thanks for leading me to this program Dougie! Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
Rich-M Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 The fact that Wise Uninstaller works as well with 64 but systems which Revo FREE does not has been earth shattering for me and I never properly thanked you for that one Dougie, I use it almost every day now. You need to be so careful with that download site though as there is a serious amount of crap ready and waiting there for you! Quote
