Hi How many users use these windows tools before they go on forums and ask for help. There is a wealth of tools in W7 and W8 if you just look for them. You might even be surprised how much better your computer will perform if you use some of these tools on a regular basis!!

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/performance-maintenance-help#performance-maintenance-help=windows-7&v1h=win8tab1&v2h=win7tab1&v3h=winvistatab1

There is a ton of information if you just look for it. There's more to maintaining your computer than you realize!!

I've used many of them over the years, some more often than others.

How about this one?? You don't need all those fancy snake oil programs to maintain and keep your PC running well! Those snake oil programs will cause you grief. I've been there and done that, but I finally wised up.

I have used the trouble shooter and found it leads to a dead end in a lot of cases.

I am not a fan.

I have had more success with Microsoft "FIXIT"

I'm also a fan of Microsoft FIXIT. There is never one silver bullet to every problem!! I will add that link!

Thanks for your reply!

Microsoft has problems, but they are working hard to solve them. I'm not perfect. Are you??

When you're the number one OS, you're going to catch a lot of Hell! My verdict is still out on Vista and W8! :):)

Are we having fun @AWS Great forum Boss !Thanks!

I've never used the Memory Diagnostics Tool.

Well ! What do you think?? Is it an good?? My test shows no errors! I'm sure memtest86+ is a better test, but why not use the windows feature??

Never had a use for it.

I only use tools when I have an issue.

Why should I use it???

Why not?? Are you 100% positive your RAM is without errors?? Do you ever check the oil in your vehicles, or do you wait until the oil light comes on??;);)

Now I know my RAM is good. And sense I can and I'm bored. I'll use my Toshiba feature to test my HDD.

PS If we had more people posting problems on the forum, I wouldn't get so bored.:):)

I might even do a chkdsk after I get ready for bed. I might even use sea tools to check my HDD!!

I really seem to be in pretty good shape. That could all change in the blink of a eye. That's life!!

I am experienced enough to sense if my computers have a problem and know where to look.

This is not a car. A warning light is there for a purpose the same as popup warnings are.

Don't try and fix something that ain't broke.

You only run tests if you sense a problem, not sit there all day looking for problems.

You are experienced mate and realize you are only trying to help others.

I was pulling your chain, mate.

Well you just my day day Dougie. I do get bored and try to create threads that I think might draw some replies. I'm really trying hard to attract new members.

I have never felt more welcomed on a forum before. I have been on quite a few. I feel like some times I may be trying to hard and then you reply like that and make my day. I have been able to be myself on Free PC Help Forum. That is a rare thing on help forums. I hope to be here a long time my friend!

All I can say is WOW. :wow: Being part of this family is more than I ever dreamed of. I'll do my best to up hold the standards of this forum and the staff. I will not dwell on the past and I will look forward to the future. I may still be to windy, to friendly, and to informative however!

Thank you Dougie!

Ok How many use this windows feature. You can do a lot with the system repair CD. Not everyone can access the recovery mode from the safe mode; and if you can't boot into windows, this is a great CD to create and have in your arsenal. It's nice to have the system restore CD also. Do you have both of them? I'm trying to make you a hand @AWS

Well I do!!

When in trouble, always try your System Repair disc first, as it may solve your problem. Only use the System Recovery Discs as a last resort, as they wipe out everything you’ve created since buying your PC.
