GimboV Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Anyone here on the 64 bit beta version of Chrome? If so what do you think of the new bookmark manager? I personally find it interesting but very under-developed. If you are unfamiliar with this new feature it is basically a GUI for bookmarks. It provides an interface much like the Win 8 start menu. Rich-M Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I probably should try it as Bookmarks in Chrome is one of the things I hate the most about Chrome and anything would be an improvement. I am somewhat gun shy of 64 bit browsers because of all the issues with Java and Flash Player over the last few years. Quote
GimboV Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 I did warn you the new bookmarks manager is a bit unpolished. As far as 64 bit browser goes no issues and I have been running it since its inception. Although I will admit I can't remember the last time I used java. However no issues with flash. FPCH Admin AWS Posted February 19, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted February 19, 2015 I have a hate/love relationship with Google Chrome. I will set it up just as I like and it will work great. Then all of a sudden it will start to act strange. When it does I'll uninstall. It's probably the only software that I've used that I am installed/uninstalled too many times to count. I think I'll give the 64bit a try. 1 Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
DSTM Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 So many software downloads include Chrome which I hate for privacy reasons. With Avast even if you choose custom install you get Chrome regardless. No option to delete Chrome. 1 Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.

I tried so hard to get to Like IE 11 and I just cannot do it, it is almost painful by comparison, like stepping back into the last century....so I wind up using Chrome the most. Do you really think a beta will be less buggy than the browser? Hey I suppose with pcs anything can happen! As I always say my 2 favorite words "computer science", the complete antithesis of words that do not belong together! Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted February 20, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted February 20, 2015 I've actually been using IE 11 more and more. There are things that I miss like adblock, right click Google search and a few others. If it had those I would probably move to it full time. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest

DSTM Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) I am using now free "Add Muncher" and works a treat. I won't give the time of day to add blocking programs (AdBlock Plus) that whitelist adds through wheeling and dealing. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5995140 Edited February 20, 2015 by DSTM Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
Rich-M Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 The reason I gave it up Dougie and I was a big proponent for years is that about 1/2 my searches were blocked and it just became too time consuming to constantly disable the program to search for anything. I understand there is a toolbar now where you can disable it for just that site but I would advise against ever running any kind of toolbar because they have to hang in front of the browser and therefore are not protectable. I am having no such issues you speak about, Rich. I can pull up EBAY Amazon Newegg any and it hasn't blocked any sites on my Computers. Give me some links to test, Please.:) Sure your not getting ADD Muncher confused with your site advisor or AV popups.??? Give me some links to test, Please.:) Sure your not getting ADD Muncher confused with your site advisor or AV popups.??? No Dougie I have owned and used Ad Muncher for almost 15 years now and was a big proponent when it was a paid program and still have 2 licenses. I gave it up more than 2 years ago due to the issue and just added it back for Paltalk but leave it disabled except when we are on Paltalk. The owner was an online buddy and probably still is a KH member for years. Same thing happens today as when I stopped using it. I just tried a bunch of Newegg urls and no issue. The other day I could not go anywhere on Newegg now I can. I worked with Jeff when it first started happening and he developed some updates for me but still 50% of my searches would be blank until I disabled it. I think their inability to handle the problem is why they eventually went "open source" because the program sold for as high as $178 lifetime version before that with no issue until this started happening. As far as I know Dan still uses it, he was the one who introduced it to me 15 years ago. I think Cindy has a bunch of licenses also, we are really familiar with this product. It almost has to be a conflict with some other program and I am starting to think Mbam frankly but when I tried to nail it down before I never did manage to isolate the issue. It has to be something that also has the ability to block sites that interferes with it but I didn't think that years ago when I tried to isolate it. Quote
DSTM Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 It could be conflicting with another program installed in your case, Rich. I just am not having any issues with 3 computers to the sites I visit. My wife buys everything online and I fully expected if there was an issue it would show up on her computer. She is always on sites selling just about anything you care to mention and no blocks. I just checked the Add Muncher log and in 10 days has blocked 10,488 adverts on this computer so more than happy. I unchecked installing the Tool Bar on each computer. No software is perfect, even OS's.:) Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.

Rich-M Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Probably have less trouble because lets face it everything on the internet is really set for IE, its the standard. The other browsers just have so many great addons and while they exist in IE, there is something annoying about every one. I.E. I use Last Pass and I love it but in IE it has to run in startup or it won't work but not so in FF or Chrome. Same is true of mouse gestures. I love mouse gestures but there are very few programs available for IE in comparison and they mostly also require being in startup. Quote
