Posted February 5, 20159 yr Hi! Are you ready for your next disaster?? I think I am?Here's why I think I'm ready. I have the 5 DVD's with back to factory. I have a flash with back to factory. I still have the back to factory hidden partition on my HD. I have created a system live repair CD that will let me boot when windows don't want to boot. Last time I checked, I had 14 back up images of my OS, created with Macrium Reflect on a External HD. The system repair CD will get me to the windows rescue media. I'm sure I'm virus free, but if I ever get so corrupted that I can't remove the infections, I always have a virus free image of my OS I can restore to. At least create the system repair CD when your PC won't boot into windows! I just might save you from a reinstall! Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
February 5, 20159 yr FPCH Admin It definitely looks as if you are prepared. Bravo Gary. Everyone should be as diligent. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
February 5, 20159 yr Author I have more! Don't let a disaster happen, protect yourself. I know this will get some comments. I have never been infected. First be a safe surfer. Use your brain and don't click on those pop-ups that tell you they can help your computer run better. Don't click on any pop-up period, when surfing the internet. When you down load software, down load from the author. If you can't find the software by the author, I trust Major Geeks. I use WOT and Ad-Blocker ; Ad-ons on all my browsers. I run MSE(Anti-Virus) and MBAM Pro in real time. I just recently added MBAM Anti Exploit to my arsenal. I know someone will say my Anti-Virus program is weak, but I have never been infected and if you read my other post her, you will see that not a lot scares this old man. I'm ready for about any thing that comes my way, and you should be ready also! :punch::geek: Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
February 5, 20159 yr FPCH Admin I believe in layered security as well. I run Eset Nod32 antivirus, Malwarebytes Pro and Ad-Block Plus. I also use Cookienator. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~

What is a system image recovery, is that a backup? I'm sorry for so many questions but I think I need to learn this.
February 6, 20159 yr Author Hi, How do I make a backup? Is that a system restore? What is a system image recovery, is that a backup? I'm sorry for so many questions but I think I need to learn this. Hi @Katrina ! No it's different than a restore point. A system image is a exact copy of your OS. W7 and W8 has a feature to create a image of your OS. It's better than nothing, but a 3rd party is better. I like Macrium Reflect. Yes you do need to learn how. Here's how to use the windows feature. Macrium is a little more involved, but you can learn how to do that will just a little effort. If you have more questions, I will try to answer them. Other members here will help you also!! http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/what-is-a-system-image I'm a lazy kind guy and I let those that are better explaining these things, do it for me.;);) http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/4241/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows-7/ Some times you're the wind shield. February 6, 20159 yr Author Hi! Maybe we should start another thread about back up images. My choice is Macrium Reflect free!! There are a ton of tutorials and how to use Macrium Reflect on the Web. February 6, 20159 yr I use Emsisoft AntiMalware (is both Av and AM), Wot, Adblock Plus, and Win Patrol. But I also make mage files at least monthly with Macrium Reflect Standard and I run Handy Backup to synchronize files and data hourly. Now the file and data plan is a bit different because all my files are on a server so my file bnackup is basically done from the server into a second hard drive om main desktop and an external drive on All-ion-One and laptop making all pcs backup machines. I should add the server is protected by Emsisoft Server version as well. Rather than run Raid which I have 0 interest in I have extra SSD drives in the server to also backup the files and data daily.
February 6, 20159 yr I agree that Macrium is quite easy to use and if you want to do is make image files and clone drives free version is all you will need. Another great advantage of Macrium over most image programs is it has a Windows Rescue Disk to restore from as well as a Linux Rescue Disk and this solves some issues for average usres as the drive numbers in Windows PE will be exact so no possible restoring the wrong drive etc as there are some things that can and have happened using a Linux Rescue disk including when Windows 8 was released no Linux recognized Windows 8 so none of the backup image programs worked at all until changes were made.
February 6, 20159 yr Thank you donetao and Rich M. I will read the instructions for that Macrium program. I'll probably have more questions, if that is okay?
