donetao Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hi! Not sure where to post this. Please move if needed! Here's a great freeware tool that every PC user should have IMHO. I sure most of you geeks have heard of it, but are you aware of all it can do. It can tell you the condition of your HD as well as give you temps of your hardware. Give it a look. It's free. I just tested my HD. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php 1 Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(

I'll take a 95% rating ;) http://www.hddstatus.com/hdrepanalysis.php 1 Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted February 3, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted February 3, 2015 I haven't used Speed Fan in a while. I'll give it a shot. Thanks! FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted February 3, 2015 FPCH Admin Posted February 3, 2015 I just downloaded it. I'll have to play around with it for a bit. donetao Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 I just downloaded it. I'll have to play around with it for a bit. Good! Let me know what you think. I wouldn't mess with changing fan speeds unless you really know what you're doing. I don't recommend doing that>;) Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
Rich-M Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Yeah I was going to say I would not use it to change fan speeds. I moved on to use Hardware Monitor anyway which offers more. Quote

donetao Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Yep sorry I meant to put it: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html Thanks! How is it better than SpeedFan?? I need to be convinced before I switch!:D I don't like this!! Yes pop ups really bother me a lot!! Edited February 4, 2015 by donetao Quote Some times you're the wind shield. DSTM Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Speedfan can be a bit hard for a newby to understand where as HWMonitor is much simpler. I am using HWMonitor at the moment. Remember these monitoring programs are only as good as the signals your Motherboard gives out. I always run more than one monitoring program so I can cross reference, and then compare the readings with my BIOS. 1 Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.

Thanks @DSTM My Toshiba monitors my temps and fans!;) Never hurts to have a second opinion. My PC never runs hot. You can feel a lap top and know if it's hot! Quote Some times you're the wind shield. DSTM Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Does it actually tell you the temps? . That's the important part, Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
donetao Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Does it actually tell you the temps? . That's the important part, I just know I have a quad core. The attachment just says CPU temps. I'm assuming Toshiba knows what it's doing. SpeedFan shows all 4. My lap top never feels hot and I can just barely hear the fan. I do feel warm air from the vents, so I know my fan is working. This old Toshiba is going on 4 years with just minor problems. You can't ask for more than that.:D:D I rarely shut it down! Quote Some times you're the wind shield. Some times you're the bug!!:(
DSTM Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Could you post an image with SPECCY, Please. I am interested what all your temps are. Thanks. DSTM Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 This is the latest Desktop rig I am on now. I built it a few weeks ago. I am happy with the temps. They seem quite stable. The temps are always higher in a laptop.
