IceMan37 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Speaking of ports, especially legacy ports, i'm glad mobo makers still use the old PS2 ports on many motherboards -- that Gigabyte Z97X SLI I built and another Z97 HD3 I build would just not boot up allowing me into the bios with any of my USB keyboards even with the legacy USB 2.0 ports and I noticed similar complaints on newegg, so I was glad to have a few older keyboards around because even a USB~PS2 adaptor initially did not allow any of my USB keyboards to post to the bios. Once drivers were loaded within the OS environment it would then accept a USB keyboard though. Quote
Rich-M Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Really good point Catch as I had a bunch of Gigabyte boards last year that required bios updates for the Usb 3.0 ports to work and there would have been no other way to get that far. I always use Ps2 ports if available as I have never been a big fan of Usb devices. I painfully had to let go of my 1394 devices when they became harder and harder to find but my early external drives all had 1394 and Usb connections. I even have an 800 1394 drive around here somewhere, that went the way of the Edsel. Quote
