mikehende Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Hp Compaq dx2000 MT business desktop, came with XP Pro, owner wants to run Vista, looking online I am seeing windows7 drivers for this unit here on HP's site: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=401821&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4051 I know normally you can use vista drivers to load win7 but this is the opposite, would this work problem free please? mikehende Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 Oh shucks, so sorry, upon 2nd look, the vista drivers are there, please delete this thread, sorry! Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted December 17, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted December 17, 2014 No problem but for future reference, Mike, try this....:D Download the drivers. Right Click the Setup File and Click "Properties". Click on the Compatibility tab. Check the box marked "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Windows Vista" from the drop down list. Check the "Run as Administrator" box. Run the setup file as normal, Windows should now report itself as Vista, and install the correct files. FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted December 17, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted December 17, 2014 Are you talking about an email client? I pop my email. mikehende Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 Hmnn, I thought POP would be the fastest since it's stored locally, appreciate the help Cindy and I have printed your previous instructions for future driver use. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted December 17, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted December 17, 2014 No, it's exactly the opposite. When you POP your email, it is downloaded first to an online server and then to your computer. mikehende Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 To clarify, the youtube video shows clear but it's the DVD video issue as I don't know why the DVD video is still not showing as clear as youtube, with native XP, DVD and XP were showing the same but Vista and now win7 the dvd doesn't show as clear, any ideas please? Rich-M Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I don't see any reason why Win 7 would stream any differently than Vista. By their nature IE is supposed to download first then stream whereas Chrome and FF can stream piecemeal as it arrives. Did you download and install flash player into Chrome and FF as well to try this Mike as they have to be done separately though I believe Chrome carries with it the newest Flash Player when it installs. You also may be missing Shockwave Player which is used more in streaming videos. Quote
mikehende Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 The owner took the machine, he's happy with it as he doesn't watch dvd's so that's not an issue. I installed flash player on all 3 browsers but as my previous post mentions, I was not having a problem with youtube, only the dvd player. Quote
IceMan37 Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 When you're talking about a possibly older machine you are using with a new OS, how older the motherboard/chipset/PC brand etc is, the default IDE/chipset/video drivers can come into play there as well as direct X and media player updates that correspond and interact with the afore mentioned Choppy DVD could be older drivers -- usually is, or drivers that are not playing well with the SATA/IDE drivers (be it native OS or installed). 1 Quote
Rich-M Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 That pc was made for a long time anjd was originally a Compaq unit HP inherited, but it appears to have been with Ddr memory and ide hard drives so we are looking at a pretty old series here and Catch is quite right. Quote
