Guest Dan Thorp-Lancaster Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) It seems that Volvo is becoming the first major brand to take advantage of Google Cardboard, Google's VR-on-the-cheap. The car manufacturer announced that it will soon release an app called 'Volvo Reality' on the App Store that drops users into various virtual driving situations with its new XC90 in an effort to promote sales of the SUV. The app takes users on virtual test drives through different environments at varying times of the day. The experience is divided into multiple episodes that are accompanied by calming music along the way. If you want to get in on the action and experience what it's like to be in the driver's seat of Volvo's latest, you can look forward to heading over to the App Store on November 18th to download the app and give it a whirl. If you don't have access to a Google Cardboard unit, you can purchase a kit from Dodocase here. On the other hand, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, you can follow Google's DIY instructions to build your own set here. Source: Volvo via The Verge [/url] Continue reading...
