N3 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Why/how is having an an earlier/old browser version a security risk? Quote
Rich-M Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Remember the main reason for browser updates N3 is security patches so with an old version, there are none being done going forward. Quote

DSTM Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I don't see it as an issue because our security programs should catch any nasties. Rich-M Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 First of all Dougie there is no one security program as you know that can stop everything and browser updates are one major step, perhaps more important than Av or Antimalware program because it prevents inception....I have always felt the best defense against malware is at the gate before entry not recognition and repulsion at later stages. DSTM Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 We don't know how effective a browser update is, and what they are targeting exactly. Browser infections and Browser changers mostly come down with downloads as an added bonus. DSTM Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Browser updates are to fix browser issues rather than infections reading what fixes the updates contain. Microsft updates and browser updates are two different entities. Wish they had of continued with the Netscape Browser. I really liked that browser. I still have Netscape Navigator 9 just for old times sake.:) Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
Rich-M Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Most browser issues "fixed" are for security reasons though. And if you look seriously the majority of Microsoft updates are also for security reasons but bear in mind security does not only mean infection...in fact more often then not it has to do with breaches which have to do with entry and not infection.
