I don't really go by test results. I'm a die hard fan of Eset Nod32 based on my experience. Others may feel differently.

You should still have it, Dougie. The key I gave you is valid until 2/15.

Same here Nod32 and the reason? We haven't seen a real virus in years but Antivirus does more than protect against virus and I always felt Nod32 had the best site protection which then makes it the best Antivirus against the real problem, namely Malware.

Antivirus are personal and personally, I never thought Trend Micro was worth owning but I have to agree now on top of that, it is a real system drag besides like Norton and MacAfee.

Trend was rated above KAV and NOD32 in 13', and most of the rest as of last year detection wise. It's no longer the case, and not worth running now whereas KAV and NOD are always at or near the top.

Yeah they all have their ups and downs but again I still say when I tested Avs regularly I always made a distinction between how an AV performs against virus and how it performs as software in general. Kav has always been a difficult program as software with many bad issues due to updates from time to time affecting other programs.

I have been using Nod32 for the past five or six years. It is the only paid AV I recommend.

I totally concur though I might be tempted to add Emsisoft to that list as I feel equally good about that product and wonder if that isn't the one that sooner or later replaced Mbam. All of the recent phone calls about Mbam update issues is really unnerving and I think the program is imploding right in front of our eyes.

Not sure what that is all about but the Security community thinks very highly of Emsisoft and it is the one product that really is for Virus and Spyware combined that I know really works. I ran it for a year on one pc here and was very impressed with it and I know Starbuck is a fan also.

In the test Emsisoft blocked 96.3% and gave 9 fake positives while Qihoo blocked 99.5% and no Fake positives.

I know which one I would choose if I needed a new AV.

Remember they are all on a level playing field so results are real.

I am more than happy with ESET

The reason I don't put much faith in the tests including the famed VB100 is that there are so many ways to measure the product and why I love NOd32 is the site protection I have never seen on another product. That is true "outside the box" protection because the problem never gets near the system, it simply gets avoided. I never went far enough testing Emsisoft to ascertain if it has that too though in day to day use I never saw any evidence it does. But however the WOT is so effective, in many cases another product never has a chance to react but I have seen NOd32 react before WOT whern both are on hand.

That's why I'm a firm believer in layered security. I was actually surprised to see Mbam pop up yesterday and Nod32 did not.
