Rich-M Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I am trying to get used to IE 11.0 and am using Outlook 2013. Unfortunately when you do that, it means that damn special version of IE opens whenever you click on an html link in Outlook and there is no way to close the thing I can see without Alt/Cont/Del ...now way to move forward and I can see no way to get the regular IE 11.0 to work. How does anyone deal with this stupid version of IE? Am I missing something as I just had to put default back to Chrome so I can move on in email it was taking me all night. Quote
Rich-M Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 What's worse that damn version doesn't use any of my addons as Last Pass, Wot and Mouse Gestures do not work on it its a gross mess. Is there anyway to uninstall that stupid thing it will kill my whole conversion. I guess I didn't have the problem in Windows 10 because I am not using Outlook there. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted October 14, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted October 14, 2014 You should be able to uninstall it by going to add/remove programs and turn windows features on/off. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
Rich-M Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 I only saw one Internet Explorer 11 there but I imagine that may be it because wasn't 11 standard to Windows 8? I'll try it because that thing is seriously annoying. Quote
Rich-M Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 I tried it and it actually removes IE 11 and there is none there however go back and that damn Windows 8 version of IE still comes up clicking on a link from Outlook. It is so annoying there is no top border and no way out of it the GD thing won't close that I can see without "3 finger salute". And what is that stupid task bar on the bottom it blocks the Windows task bar and the whole thing just makes no sense so for now I have to keep Chrome for default browser unless anyone else knows a way to get rid of that thing. Rich-M Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 I posted this on TSF and got a quick answer from a networking guru: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/open-links-in-the-windows-8-desktop-internet-explorer-every-time/ and remain convinced this will fix the problem.
