A few days back, Microsoft released Windows 10 Technical Preview to the public for testing purpose. In order to remove general annoyances and bugs, Microsoft is offering us these preview versions. If you’ve already installed Windows 10 on your system, and you’re facing some issues in running your system smoothly, then this post is for you, since it will tell you how to remove or uninstall Windows 10 Technical Preview.

Since you’ve installed this version either by upgrading the system or in a multi-boot environment, the earlier existing stable copy might have been disturbed. Personally I found my own laptop flashing weirdly during booting, after installing the preview.

I made it dual boot with Windows 8.1, and it seems like the preview has already disturbed the stable copy. Well, if you too are facing issues on your machine after installing it, you can remove it using the following methods:

Uninstall Windows 10 Technical Preview From Upgraded System

If you’ve upgraded your Windows stable edition to Windows 10, then you can uninstall the preview updates using Windows Updates. For this to be done, open Windows Updates on your system and look for the already installed updates. You have to find the Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2990214) and uninstall it.

Once you have uninstalled this update, reboot your computer and you’ll have your old stable copy of Windows edition.

Remove Windows 10 Technical Preview From Multiple Boot

In order to remove Windows 10 version from a multi-boot installation machine, you have to enter Advanced Settings at boot. Follow these steps:

1. Start the system and you’ll get Choose an operating system screen. Select the Change defaults or choose other options.

2. Next, from the Choose an option screen, pick Troubleshoot.

3. Finally, in the Troubleshoot screen, you’ll see an option Uninstall Preview updates and get rid of Windows 10 beta version on your system.

Apart from these options, some people prefer virtualization to test beta versions which is a very good practice. If you’ve installed Windows 10 TP using a virtualization software, then its very easy to remove the preview version, that’s why we’re not talking about it here.
