Copy the information that you want to add to the hosts file into your mouse. 1) Click Start 2) All Apps 3) Windows accessories 4) Right click Notepad and select "Run as administrator" 5) Click Yes in the UAC window. 6) Go File\Open 7) Click on "This PC" 8) Go ( C: )\ Windows \ System 32 \ Drivers \ etc 9) Go to the bottom right corner of the window and click the down facing arrow. 10) Select "All Files" from the drop down menu. 11) Click "Hosts" 12) Click "Open" 13) Paste your information/text into the hosts file. 14) Go File\Save 15) Close Notepad Edited October 9, 2014 by PseFrank 1 Quote Says Don't wait until your computer goes bang. DSTM Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 Hi Frank. Yes I right clicked on Notepad and selected "Run as Administrator" No issues with other OS's. Be interested if it is happening to anyone else. FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted October 9, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted October 9, 2014 Very interesting. I hadn't tried to alter the Hosts file. One common problem seems to be you cannot play DVD's. FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted October 9, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted October 9, 2014 I got the idea from you, Dougie. It should make an interesting thread. FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted October 10, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted October 10, 2014 It looks to me as if Windows 10 is a combination of Windows 7 and 8. All Programs are now called All Apps. The Windows Search (Programs and Files) now gives you results from the internet as well as from your computer. I'm not sure I'm liking this new feature. DSTM Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 I do like the revised Notification pop out. I don't like Search and Task view even being in the Task Bar as they take up space which I use for quick launch of my favourite programs and browser switching. Hope enough testers complain and adjustments made before official release. 1 Quote Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm Schizophrenic, and so am I Free Photo Restoration and Repair for all Forum members - CLICK HERE Please pop back and let us know if your Computer problem has been solved.
Rich-M Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 So far I see it more as Windows 8 fixed and I must admit I like it a lot. It is way faster than any other version of Windows and with a few minor changes the Start Menu is bearbale (mainly adding in My Pc, Network and Control panel). Quote
