Posted September 25, 201410 yr Hey guys, this used POS touchscreen pc [no name brand] running XP Pro SP2 which was working fine but after uninstalling some programs trying to clean up the pc, now when I startup the pc, I can navigate through windows fine but touching anywhere on the screen doesn't work, I have no knowledge of touchscreens so can anyone tell me how I can get this working again please?
September 27, 201410 yr Mike sorry I wasn't aware touchscreens existed in Windows XP but I doubt whethe it works or not has anything to do with Windows frankly.
September 29, 201410 yr Author I am trying to figure out which touchscreen software is on this unit so i can try doing a fresh install and would appreciate any help advice please since I cannot find a touchscreen specific forum on the net where I might get help with this? I am seeing a folder on the C drive named "Touchscreen", inside that folder I am seeing a few items with one document titled "Instructions for installing Zounds touchscreen, when I open that doc, I am seeing "Instructions for installing Solo 17 Touchscreen in Zounds Store" and then in another location C/Program Files I am seeing this folder "SimpleTouch FE", can anyone shed any light on which software is the actual touchscreen software please? Maybe I can look in the Device Manager for drivers but under which item should I look for the touchscreen drivers in "Sound, video and game Controllers"?
September 29, 201410 yr Hi Mike, It seems to me that the touchscreen stopped working after someone uninstalled a "few programs". It's more likely than not that whoever uninstalled those programs actually uninstalled the touchscreen software. Simple Touch Fe seems to be a software program designed for use with touchscreens. I think you are on the right track. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
