Posted September 17, 201410 yr Hello, can anyone direct me to all drivers for this laptop please? I looked at one page here but it is only showing a "Touchpad" driver? http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
September 17, 201410 yr Author I see now why I could not find the 32 bit drivers on the Acer site, I see that only 64 bit drivers are available for this on there? http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/3769;-;Aspire%207560 Anyway, I will easily reload win7 and choose the 64-bit version this time so I can use those 64bit drivers.
September 17, 201410 yr Author BTW guys, please help me clear this up? A guy on the Acer forum says it's ok to use the 64bit drivers for a 32bit windows, would this be safe or should I only use 32 bit drivers for 32bit OS and 64bit drivers for 64bit OS?
September 17, 201410 yr FPCH Admin No, Mike, it's not okay. The 64 bit drivers won't even install on a 32 bit system. :help: ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
September 18, 201410 yr FPCH Admin but will 32bit drivers install on a 64bit OS? No, Drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows don't work on computers running 64-bit versions of Windows. Drivers designed for the 64-bit version of Windows don't work on computers running a 32-bit version of Windows. September 18, 201410 yr FPCH Admin You're welcome, Mike! :D ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
September 18, 201410 yr Well wait a minute there are exceptions. Cindy is 100% correct however if there isn't a 64 bit version of the driver then and only then will a 32 bit driver work.
September 18, 201410 yr FPCH Admin I've never gotten a 32 bit driver to work on a 64 bit OS, Rich. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
September 18, 201410 yr Cindy it was more true in the early days of 64 bit when there just were no drivers for some components. Still happens occasionally with a mouse though I never install mouse or keyboard software unless the keyboard has power keys. Same way with programs. We install 32 bit versions of Firefox or Chrome because there are no 64 bit versions.
September 18, 201410 yr FPCH Admin I've never had a problem with the programs, just the drivers. :D Learn something new every day. :D ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~ ~~Robert McCloskey~~
