N3 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Which version of Pale Moon should i download, "Quick Install" or "Advanced- 32 or 64 bit? Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted September 10, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted September 10, 2014 Form what I've read about it you would better off using the 32 bit version. I am ready to ditch Firefox and I am looking at Pale Moon too. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
Rich-M Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I have been ujsing the 32 bit version now for a few months and I like it a lot. The only thing I have an issue with is now and then a pdf file won't read...when you do addons be sure and do" pdf viewer" as it will get almost all of them. Unfortunately Foxit and Adobe are not available yet. Last Pass, All in one Gestures, Wot, Adblock Plus and Fire Ftp all work fine. Quote
N3 Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Ok, i downloaded the 32 bit version. Where are the "Tools, Options & General" tabs or equivilent if they exist? Quote
Rich-M Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Right click up across the top of the browser and check "menu bar" and "bookmarks toolbar" keep trying different spots until you see them and check them as we now have to do in IE all the time as well. Quote
N3 Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Got it! Everything looks the same as firefox. Did you uninstall firefox or leave it on your desktop? Quote
Rich-M Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I uninstalled it N3 as this is much more stable and other than the one issue with a certain type of pdf, have yet to have a single incident. FF was driving me bonkers until Pete (Starbuck) suggested trying this! Quote
N3 Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Disaster! After I uninstalled firefox I clicked the majority of the icons on my desktop & I get "application not found". Even my email says the same thing. I did a system restore & no difference. Quote
Rich-M Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Yikes no way that can have anything to do with that N3. Quote
N3 Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Unfortunately i cannot access my desktop using pale moon. I must be doing something wrong. I uninstalled pale moon & installed firefox & all is "presently" well. I'll accept the nuances of firefox & be satisfied. Too much aggravation & heartache to try to rectify the pale moon browser problem. Thanks to all for your assist concerning pale moon. Quote
Rich-M Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 N3 maybe it's time to learn to love Chrome. I am ready again. I tried to print a stock page this AM and could not print it again its a pdf.Usually that works it is printing out a check from a bank statement is the only thing that does not work in Pale Moon but your story is really scary, glad you got it back. N3 Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Rich.....I believe my problem was caused by myself & not pale moon. Obviously others have been successful with it. As far as your pdf problems are concerned, i noticed in the pale moon add-ons that there are many pdf converters to try. Quote
starbuck Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Hi N3, Did you try installing Pale Moon whilst Firefox was still installed? There's no harm in having both on the system. Quote
Rich-M Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I tried everything N3 and the best one is pdf viewer. Quote
N3 Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Starbuck....... if i'm not mistaken, after or before downloading pale moon isn't there a firefox download or add-on one must do? Quote
Rich-M Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 any of the addons are Firefox addons but nothing required that I remember Pete. I uninstalled FF on all systems I put Pale Moon on without incident. Quote
starbuck Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 if i'm not mistaken, after or before downloading pale moon isn't there a firefox download or add-on one must do? The only extra download i had to perform was the migration tool This tool will help you migrate a Mozilla Firefox profile to Pale Moon. This tool may not work for everyone, since it has a few important limitations: This tool only works for the default profile locations for Firefox and Pale Moon This tool does not work for portable versions of either browser This tool may not work well on limited accounts on Windows Vista. Quote
N3 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Did you download the "mitigation tool" before or after downloading pale moon? Quote
starbuck Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I downloaded it after installing Pale Moon. But for the tool to work, Firefox still has to be on the system. The tool then transfers your bookmarks, saved passwords etc over to Pale Moon. Quote
N3 Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 I have firefox folders on my desktop. If i were to download either Pale Moon, Opera or Chrome could i still access these folders? Quote
starbuck Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I have firefox folders on my desktop. What do you mean by 'Firefox' folders? Quote
Rich-M Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 For one thing N3 it is never a good idea to have folders on your desktop. It slows down the bootup and drags down the system. But I see no reason what browser you use should have anything to do with that performance. Quote
N3 Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 Starbuck & Rich....When i look up various sites on the internet (using the firefox browser) & i want to keep that site & similar sites, i will make a folder or folders on my desktop . Example: Fishing Folder, Electronics Folder, Forums Folder, etc. The problem is, after i downloaded "Pale Moon" the folders previously made with the firefox browser would not open using the pale moon browser. FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted September 17, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted September 17, 2014 Why not just bookmark the sites you want to keep, N3? Wouldn't that be easier? Rich-M Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I am starting to have more and more issues with Pale Moon. Today I couldn't open any pdfs again which happens every once in a while and I also had java issues on my broker site. I am about ready to go back to Chrome again. Quote
