If you have purchased any movies or TV shows through iTunes competitor Google Play Movies & TV, Google has finally delivered an update to its iOS app that brings offline playback for your video content. Now, you no longer need an Internet connection to play your favorite purchased or rented videos as you can pre-download them for later playback.

Along with offline playback, which would be good for frequent flyers who may not have a connection in the friendly skies, here is the complete change log for the app, which is now in version 1.2.0:

  • Download and play your videos anywhere, without an Internet connection
  • Accessibility improvements
  • Stability improvements and bug fixes

The app and offline playback has been available on Android for some time now, and it's nice that Google is bring parity to its iOS app.

Do you stray from iTunes from time to time to make purchases on Google Play Movies & TV? Is this a welcomed feature for the app?
