August 30, 201410 yr FPCH Admin You must have been reading my mind, Rich. I just got two notebooks in this morning and they both have bad hard drives. Thanks! ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
August 30, 201410 yr FPCH Admin I bought one of these a couple weeks ago to replace a bad hard drive on one of the employees laptop. I paid more than this. I might pick up a couple for spares. Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
August 30, 201410 yr Author Yeah that's the lowest I have seen even though they are coming down and these drives are decent as well. My wholesaler had 3.5" drives for $42.99 but I could not put that up because you had to be a member but I have been building with these for a while now. WD are still the best though but they only have 2 year warranty now also.
August 30, 201410 yr FPCH Admin The black WD's still have the 5 year warranty on them. They are usually the only one I purchase. http://support.wdc.com/warranty/policy.asp ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
August 31, 201410 yr Author Right as do the Raptors, the only drives I used for me for years until I got hooked on Ssd drives. I have never really seen any wear difference in any of the more expensive labels though as at some point or another I have used them all. Kind of like the race for 64 meg cache drives even though I can't see where the original 2 meg cache were any slower.
