you act stupid and don't understand.

Or at least I think its an act but I may wrong.

Look who's calling who stupid. You lied. You then deny it. Then you

admitted you lied after being called on it, weakly tying to parse your

words to suite your lies. Then you try to make up some half-ass

reason why you lied and now you call me stupid?

Hell man, I know there are a lot of dim witted fools in this newsgroup

but for you to pretend you have superior intelligence is really

stretching it.

A properly set up Ubuntu would be far safer for an average user than a

box with Windows from any major OEM vendor. Most users don't set up

email servers they use Yahoo, Hotmail or their ISP's email servers.

You need help.. I have said none of those things and they are a figment of

your imagination.

Your mind distorts what you see to fit your warped views even when things

are put as simply as possible.

It is a problem I can't help you with as it needs someone inside your warped

view that you trust.

Anything I say is distorted by you to fit whatever irrational agenda your

mind has.

You have really lost it.

I will leave it for one of your friends to explain to you how absurd what

you say is.. I can't as you have a problem with listening to what I write.

BTW in a vain attempt to make things absolutely clear. I told alias he was

talking crazy and that doesn't mean I think he is crazy.

However in your case I think you may well be crazy.

Have you had a check-up recently?

If so get a second opinion with a specialist, if not please do so.

There is little difference between a properly setup windows machine and a

properly setup linux box as far as security goes.

However most users will find it far easier to setup a windows machine than a

linux machine and there is more help about to do it.

There are lots of tools about to help the absolute beginner secure a windows

machine while there are none for linux as the developers assume the user

knows too much.

LOL! *that's* funny! You *are* kidding, right? Millions upon millions of

viruses for Windows in the wild and not even a hundred for Linux. Pull

the other one.

OEMs set it up for Windows, not the users. I said if Ubuntu was properly

set up FOR the user, it would be far safer. That said, I think Ubuntu is

easier to install than Windows.

False. I have gotten a lot more, and better informed, help from the

Ubuntu forums than the Windows forums and that's putting it mildly.

Viruses that can't do anything to a properly set up computer are just

viruses that do nothing.

You disregard the pottential exploits in linux by claiming they are fixed

but refuse to do the same for windows.. why is that?

Are you claiming to be a beginner now? If so who secured your computer and

I get at least one update a day with Avast. Every time I check the Clam

AV that comes with Ubuntu, there's never an update. I just cleaned up

three XP computers that owned by average users and all of them had over

20 viruses even though all of them had OEM set up computers from the

likes of HP and Dell. My upstairs neighbor is another average computer

user and he would get viruses every other day with Windows. Since I set

up Ubuntu for him, he hasn't that problem any more.

No. How do you figure? No one is an expert and everyone needs assistance

every once in a while, especially when using a new OS, be it Windows or

Linux.

> If so who secured your computer

I did and I have the Gnome Security Suite and a NAT hard firewall. I

only install programs that are in the Ubuntu repositories.

Well clam AV doesn't get updated because it doesn't do anything useful.

As for your neighbours being average then it doesn't sound like it to me..

they have had far more trouble than anyone I know unless you are being

selective and just reporting the ones with problems like news groups do.

Because I said "..help the absolute beginner.. " and you said "False. I

have gotten a lot more, and better informed, help..". It implies that you

are a beginner.

> No one is an expert and everyone needs assistance every once in a while,

> especially when using a new OS, be it Windows or Linux.

That is almost true.. it should say even experts need help sometimes. IME

its not usually an expert that solves most problems in the best way.. they

tend to get stuck in a mind set that you have to do things in a particular

way.. you should always try to listen to other people whatever level they

are at as sometimes they have the better idea.

The best part of that is the firewall.. everyone should have one.. the

software ones are a waste of time to the average user who will just click

"allow" anyway.

Obviously the ones who call have problems. I was at a family's house the

other day and found over twenty viruses and uncountable registry

problems. They have two teen-aged daughters and I noticed that they use

eMule. When I was done cleaning it up, the younger, 14 year old cried

out "Messenger" and ran to the computer to start chatting and accepting

files from her contacts. I said to myself, "I'll be back". They hadn't

updated *any* of the security apps and didn't know how to get the newer

Avast version and complained that Avast kept telling them to update.

They had over 3,000 fragmented files. This is what I mean by an "average

user". I must give credit to XP, though, in that it still booted up with

all the above programs.

Well, I didn't mean it that way. I was just saying that an absolute

beginner, if they open Firefox after booting up Ubuntu, will get links

to forums, support and IRC.

I agree.

Agreed. With Ubuntu, it's also a good idea to only install programs from

the Ubuntu repository.

Oh God, not again. Another wannabe type trying to imply he's some

world renowned expert but oh, nearly everybody else in this newsgroup

must be below average in computer knowledge. I see you only as a LIAR.

You lie, then when caught you desperately try to parse your words and

try to fake you didn't say what you said. I guess you're too dumb to

know it, but you just described the actions of UAC.

I only see you as crazy.

Yes I did say I think you are crazy.

However I am not qualified to actually state that you really are crazy but I

am entitled to an opinion and you get what you deserve.

You have lost touch with reality and try to reach conclusions that are

irrational, a sure sign of problems.

You also appear to lie for no reason what so ever.. you gain nothing so you

must have a problem to do it.

HTH.

So what are you jealous of? My intelligence or maybe it just pisses

clowns like you off how easily I swat away members of the fanboy

Funny, looking at your header, same sequence at the start (read right

You have yet to even reach the "mental midget" level in anything in

life, let alone computers. You're a big mouth blowhard drunken idiot who

also just happens to be a moron. You've got your bald pointy head shoved

so far up you fat as* that the sun always appears to be brown in color

to you.

You're also a braggart and a know liar on top of being just a plain old

as*hole.

You are nothing but a piece of sh*t loser!
