User Friendly Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Hi, I recently purchased a refurbished IBM Thinkpad laptop with touchscreen from Newegg. It worked great for the first couple or few weeks but now the screen is weirdly pixelated and the colors are off. The screen has a reddish tinge to it. I don't know what to do. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 14, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted July 14, 2014 It sounds as if your video card is bad. Did you get any type of warranty on this notebook? User Friendly Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 I think it only came with a 30 day warranty. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 14, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted July 14, 2014 What is the model number? Do you have the newegg link for the purchase? You should be able to find the warranty information at newegg. FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 14, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted July 14, 2014 Do you know the exact date that you purchased it? Are you within the 30 days? It seems as if you should have at least a 90 day warranty on a refurbished notebook, if not six months. User Friendly Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 I purchased it more than thirty days ago. It's a Thinkpad X61 model. This is the url. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246482 Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 14, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted July 14, 2014 It looks as if you are in luck, Troutman. There is a one year warranty (by manufacturer) on this item. User Friendly Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 Thanks again. Lenovo emailed me a shipping label. They are going to replace it. Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 15, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted July 15, 2014 That's great news. If you have anything on there you wish to keep, you should probably copy it to an external hard drive. Lenovo may opt to send out another refurbished unit. You may not get the same one back. In that event, any personal information should be removed as well.
