Posted July 14, 201410 yr Hi, I recently purchased a refurbished IBM Thinkpad laptop with touchscreen from Newegg. It worked great for the first couple or few weeks but now the screen is weirdly pixelated and the colors are off. The screen has a reddish tinge to it. I don't know what to do.
July 14, 201410 yr FPCH Admin It sounds as if your video card is bad. Did you get any type of warranty on this notebook? ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
July 14, 201410 yr FPCH Admin What is the model number? Do you have the newegg link for the purchase? You should be able to find the warranty information at newegg. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
July 14, 201410 yr FPCH Admin Do you know the exact date that you purchased it? Are you within the 30 days? It seems as if you should have at least a 90 day warranty on a refurbished notebook, if not six months. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
July 14, 201410 yr Author I purchased it more than thirty days ago. It's a Thinkpad X61 model. This is the url. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246482
July 14, 201410 yr FPCH Admin It looks as if you are in luck, Troutman. There is a one year warranty (by manufacturer) on this item. I've listed the information below. July 15, 201410 yr FPCH Admin Let us know how you fare.... ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
July 15, 201410 yr Author Thanks again. Lenovo emailed me a shipping label. They are going to replace it.
July 15, 201410 yr FPCH Admin That's great news. If you have anything on there you wish to keep, you should probably copy it to an external hard drive. Lenovo may opt to send out another refurbished unit. You may not get the same one back. In that event, any personal information should be removed as well. ~I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.~~~Robert McCloskey~~
