Ever since I ha a windows update, I have had the following problems...

1. When I restart my pc . I get signed in as a temp user. So I cannot save any new files.

- all my old files are still on pc. but I have to open the user files to access them.

- if I sign in as administrator, I seam to be able too save new files. but old desktop still won't load.

2. My wireless adapter keeps shutting off by itself. I have to manually reset it. like every 5 minutes.

- this is a MAJOR problem. I do not have enough time to down load any fixes as the adapter shuts off during download...which cancels the download.

3. I have tried to do both a windows refresh, and a windows reinstall.

- neither worked. when I tried, I get a blue screen that says it cannot be done... and since my laptop came with windows 8 preinstalled. I do not have

a windows disc to install from.

4. When I run a "advanced system care" scan... when I get to the part where it tries to run a windows update. the software stops running. I get a

blue screen with a message "Page fault in a nonpaged area".. and the system reboots itself.

I ran (http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx) it told me there were problems... but didn't fix anything

now I had the same thing happen to my laptop 6 months ago... it cost me $150 to have a repair guy use a windows 8 disc to do a reinstall of windows 8.

I will not pay this again....if I can't fix, I will install windows 7 on laptop.

I have contacted both gateway and windows help in live chat.....neither could help....ANY help from this forum would be greatly appreciated

You need to be certain there are drivers for Windows 7 before even attempting that and frankly if this is a new laptop I would be returning it to where you bought it.

In addition, if you are running Advanced System Care, you have probably damaged your registry.

Good One Cindy I missed Advanced System Care...you need to uninstall that and may actually need to reinstall Windows because of its use.

Yeah, unless you have a specific problem that absolutely requires the use of a registry cleaner, you shouldn't run one.

It isn't needed in everyday computing and will only cause problems with your registry in the long run.

OMG is that ever true.....and the damage done cannot be undone save with a backup. If by chance this user did a registry backup before using that, and they seldom do, then they should invoke it now and we can take them the rest of the way.
