Posted November 28, 200716 yr Hi all, I'm actually having some problem with my VMware virtual machine. I have a new HP 2300 with 2.0 USB ports. Unfortunatly when I connect to my VMware Virtual machine, it does not recognises the port as a 2.0 and tells me than this device can perform faster etc. I perform several download on both machine, on my actual windows and on my virtual machine also (both windows XP), I have set up 2 network adapters with 2 different dedicated lines so that I can perform my tasks and this works fine. Except for the USB support. Do you have any idea of what can cause this? Thanks Kevish
November 29, 200716 yr FPCH Admin I am pretty sure vmware doesn't have usb 2.0 support built in. Does USB still function after you close the error box? Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
November 29, 200716 yr Author Hi, It works normal as if you stick it in a 1.0 usb port. I also think that vmware does not support 2.0 usb built in but there must be a way to sort this out. Does anyone else have an idea of how we can install the usb driver 2.0 on vmware? Thanks Kevish
November 29, 200716 yr FPCH Admin Since USB 2.0 support is installed by default when you install Windows XP or higher I would place the problem squarely on vmware. Using Microsoft Virtual Server or Virtual PC there is an addon pack for installing support for some hardware. Does vmware have anything similiar? If it does it very well could add support for usb2.
