Agustin de Landa Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Hello I have a windows server 2008 r2 box with two network cards. Each network card is connected to a different ISP. One of them is ASDL Internet provider and the other one is a Cable provider. So I have two routers with different IP's. I have this becuase in case an Internet connection fails I want to be able to use the second one so that we keep internet service working. I do not know how to configure that. I also have the server acting as the DHCP, DNS and HyperV server. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
ICTCity Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 you have "many" possibilities. you can do this manually or automatically. The first thing you can do is a bonding / NIC / team solution. If you have an Intel or HP NIC you can easily bond them and this could also provide load balancing. if you want to use the routing protocol check this great article: http://networkerslog.blogspot.com/2011/04/network-redundancy-for-windows-server.html The best solution is a cross router, that means it knows if the other router fails... but they cost soo much. There are others routing protocols you can use to achieve that, but they're not reliable. Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Agustin de Landa Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Thanks for the information but that is not what I need. As I said I have my windows server 2008 R2 connected to 2 ISP, one of them ADSL and the other Cable. I want Server 2008 R2 to be able to realize Internet connection #1 (ASDL) is not working and automatically use Cable ISP. This should be transparent to my users. Quote
ICTCity Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 there's no way to accomplish this task without a cross router.
